About Lottie
My name is Lottie and I'm about to graduate with an honours degree in biology, with plans to pursue an MSc in genetics. I've loved biology my whole life, so helping others to do the same is truly a pleasure. Some of my favourite topics within the subject are quantitative genetics, epigenetics, evolution and behaviour. I have been tutoring GCSE biology and chemistry since 2021 and am now focusing solely on biology.
Outside of the subject I enjoy English, music, visual arts and fashion. I believe that these alternate interests give me my creative approach to problem-solving which I employ when designing modes of teaching for different learners. Though I lived in London through my GCSEs and A-levels, I have also lived in New York City, Oxford and Bath, experiences which have helped shape me into the open-minded and friendly person I am today.

I have been tutoring GCSE biology since 2021 alongside my degree, and now that I'm graduating I'm looking to take on more students. I am patient with a strong passion for my subject and I believe that with the right approach I can instil my enthusiasm in any student.
Initially, I assess my tutee's confidence with each topic using their exam board's specification. I typically plan hour-long sessions which consist of a lesson on the chosen topic and a quiz, or walking through specific exam questions with them, depending on the individual's goals at the time. I focus heavily on exam technique as well as content, and tailor my teaching methods to the student's unique learning style.
