About Maje Chalco
I am an Art Historian, Museum Educator, and Cultural Mediator passionate about making art and culture accessible, meaningful, and engaging. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Art from the National University of San Marcos and I am a graduate of the Master's Program in Peruvian and Latin American Art at the same institution. My academic background has provided me with a strong foundation in Art History while allowing me to develop a deeper understanding of the artistic and cultural realities of Latin America.
I have more than five years of professional experience working in some of the most important museums in Lima, where I have developed expertise in museum education, cultural mediation, and visitor-centered learning experiences. I currently work as a Cultural Mediator at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Lima, and I also teach diploma programs and courses focused on museum education.
My commitment is to bring art and culture closer to people through educational and pedagogical strategies that place learners at the center of the experience. I believe education should not simply provide information but inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful connections with art and culture.
I am dedicated, patient, and committed to creating engaging learning environments where students feel supported and motivated. Art is more than dates, names, and movements — it is a way of understanding people, ideas, societies, and the world around us. My goal as a tutor is to make Art History come alive through engaging conversations, visual exploration, and meaningful connections rather than simple memorization.
I create interactive lessons adapted to each student’s interests, goals, and learning style. Whether we are exploring Ancient Art, the Renaissance, Contemporary Art, museums, cultural heritage, or visual interpretation, I encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and develop their own perspective. I believe that learning becomes more powerful when students actively participate and feel curious about what they discover.
My background in Art History, Museum Education, and Cultural Mediation allows me to bring a different approach to learning. I combine academic knowledge with dynamic teaching techniques, using artworks, images, case studies, discussions, and real examples to create memorable learning experiences.
My lessons are designed for school students, university students, and adult learners at beginner, intermediate, or advanced levels. I can also help with essays, research projects, presentations, visual analysis, and deeper understanding of art, museums, and cultural studies.
