My teaching method is rather traditional, with a lot of expectations in hard work and listening from the student. But I also take time to understand their needs, their strengths and their weaknesses. Encouragement works best! The goal is mastery.
With an art history degree, I have a wide base in different fields of education. After 16 years of homeschooling, I am able to understand different curricula and implement them whilst catering to a child's different learning styles. My success is evident in my 4 children, 2 attended college classes while in high school with me. One of them just got a full ride to UM for his last 2 yrs. The younger 2 attend a small public 5-yr STEM based high school. One of them a NHS student, and the other skipping a grade of math entirely.
Besides math, my other goal as a tutor is to help students in Spanish. I grew up in a Spanish speaking household, and am fluent in Spanish. In our homeschool, I and my children studied Latin, so even though it's not a popular subject, if you would like help in your homeschool with Latin, I would love to!
If you are looking for some instruction in art lessons, I also am able to help your child find their inner artist.
I am willing to travel a 10 mile radius from my home.
