About Nitin
I am Nitin Umesh, cybersecurity, data privacy, and governance professional with extensive experience leading global GRC, audit, and compliance functions. I currently serve as a GRC Lead at Protiviti, where I work closely with the Office of the CISO and DPO to strengthen data protection, cloud compliance, and ISO 27001 governance frameworks. With over a decade of experience across industries — including BFSI, consulting, and technology — I have earned global certifications such as CISA, CISM, CRISC, PMP, CEH, ISO 27001:2022 LA, and Certified Blockchain Expert. My background also includes academic roles as a Senior Assistant Professor in Information Security, where I taught courses on cybersecurity management, database security, OS hardening, and malware analysis. I hold an M.S. in Information Security from the Indian Institute of Information Technology and am pursuing a PhD focusing on post-pandemic cyber threats, ransomware evolution, and AI-driven risk. I have authored multiple international research papers and served as a Conference Chairperson at the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poland.
