About Greg

- What kind of experience do you have?

Having recently moved to Brighton from London, I have a broad range of teaching experience; I currently teach Clarinet, Piano and coach ensembles for Bute House Preparatory School (Hammersmith), as well as working door-to-door as both a private tutor and for a number of tuition agencies. I also engage in frequent educational work through RCM Sparks, Bute Explore and my Wind Quintet, New British Winds.

I worked for two years as Woodwind and Piano tutor at Wyvil Primary School (Vauxhall), where I not only taught one-to-one and group lessons but conducted the school orchestra and coordinated other musical activities. During my studies in Cardiff, I taught both as a private tutor in South Wales and as a woodwind teacher at Making Music, Changing Lives in Cardiff.

Yes, I have both Enhanced and Basic DBS Certificates.

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

I currently a member of the ISM.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

I currently teach students aged from 5 yo- Adult and ranging from complete beginner to DipABRSM standard. A good number of my older students are 'revisiting' music having learned an instrument at school, while others are completely new to music.

I am an experienced and enthusiastic teacher who is committed to bringing enjoyable learning to people of all ages and abilities. Whether you wish to play in a group or tackle graded examinations, I believe everyone can benefit from music.

Clarinet and Saxophone (including ABRSM Jazz Syllabus), Music Theory, ABRSM Practical Musicianship, Recorder, Flute and Piano

MPerf in Performance with Distinction - Royal College of Music (2016) Supported by RCM Wilkins-Mackerras Scholarship, Countess of Munster Musical Trust, Denne Gilkes Memorial Trust, Walker Trust and Rosalie Inskip Music Trust.

BMus (Hons) First Class - Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (2014)

DipABRSM (Teaching) - with Distinction (2013)

ABRSM Grade 8 Clarinet - with Distinction (2008) ABRSM Grade 7 Piano (2010)

- How much do you charge?

£40.00 for an hour, £30.00 for 30 minutes, travel included in price. I am able to provide an initial consultation at half price and group fees are negotiable.

- Where do you teach?

While I am based in Preston Park, I teach predominantly at students' home.

In the Brighton area, I currently teach in Hove, Portslade and Kemptown.
In London I teach as far afield as Wembley and Streatham.

- When are you available?

I am available most evenings and weekends and am highly flexible. I am also happy to teach during school holidays.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all ages and abilities; I cater the experience to best fit what the student wishes to gain from music.

ABRSM Practical Exams (including Music Medals and DipABRSM)
ABRSM Theory Exams
ABRSM Practical Musicianship Exams
TCL Grade Exams
GCSE/AS/A Level Music

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I am happy to provide lessons online, if preferable. This is facilitated over video-call (Skype or Facetime), payment via PayPal or BACS.
