About Hannah
With a DMA in Piano Performance and 7 years of experience teaching jazz, I specialize in preparing students for advanced programs such as Berklee and Juilliard. My teaching philosophy revolves around nurturing a deep, intuitive understanding of jazz harmony and improvisation while also strengthening classical-based piano technique. I believe that jazz musicians must not only master the fundamentals but also feel free to explore and take risks creatively. That balance shapes everything I do in my studio. My lessons include harmonic analysis, voicing technique, improvisational frameworks, ear training, tone development, and transcription work. I help students understand how to build strong practice habits and how to interpret jazz repertoire authentically. I also guide students through the entire conservatory audition process—choosing repertoire, polishing improvisations, refining technical passages, and preparing mentally for performance. Over the years, I’ve seen students grow into confident performers capable of expressing themselves with clarity and originality. I tailor all instruction to each student’s musical personality, goals, and learning pace. My mission is to help every pianist develop the technical precision, artistic insight, and creative confidence needed to thrive in advanced jazz settings.
