About Sierra
I am a Physics tutor with more than eight years of experience and a degree in Physics with Philosophy. I specialize in working with middle school students, guiding them through the first steps of understanding forces and motion. My teaching often begins with simple experiments that make abstract concepts concrete. For example, we might drop objects of different weights or test friction with sliding surfaces. I also use real-world examples from sports, cars, and roller coasters to bring the subject alive. These connections help students realize physics is everywhere. I know that many young learners struggle at first, but I encourage them with patience and clear explanations. By breaking down challenges into small steps, I help students build confidence. I teach physics through an application-focused method that connects science with engineering problems. My sessions often use real examples, such as designing safe bridges, analyzing airplane wings, or exploring how fluids behave in pipes. Materials science is another area I integrate, showing how choices of metals, plastics, or composites matter in engineering. I enjoy guiding students through statics and dynamics, using practical problems from everyday structures. With fluid dynamics, I link the concepts to turbines, pumps, and even sports equipment. My relaxed approach means we take time to ask questions and work through ideas without pressure. I focus on building understanding step by step, so learners can apply theory to design challenges. Problem-solving is central, and I encourage multiple approaches to the same problem. I also support future physics teachers and computational physicists by giving them the tools to explain and model real systems. My goal is to turn difficult topics into useful knowledge.
