About Ava
Returning learners or self-taught players often seek me out to build a foundation. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Popular Music from the University of Southern California and balance my time between gigging in Austin and teaching. My approach centers on clarity and helping you gain control over your instrument.
I emphasize music theory and reading tabs as essential tools for any musician. Whether you are working through grade exam prep or mastering barre chords, I guide you toward your goals. I also cover acoustic technique and fingerpicking to round out your style. Maintenance and tuning are just as vital to keep you sounding great.
Developing your improvisation and soloing skills helps turn practice into performance. See you at the practice space for a fun session.

Struggling to play your favorite song during a casual jam is a common hurdle for many. I fix this by breaking down complex mechanics into manageable steps that anyone can follow. During our time together, we focus on the specific techniques that make your songs sound authentic and polished.
My 12 years of experience allow me to identify exactly where your progress has stalled. I integrate theory naturally so you understand why your fingers move the way they do.
We will tackle barre chords, intricate fingerpicking, and the art of the solo. I provide structure to your practice so you stop guessing and start playing. You can expect a relaxed environment where your improvement is the primary focus.
