About Alena

Teaching exists because I want to strip away the harsh criticism that often plagues music education. My own path through the BFA Popular Music program at USC Thornton School of Music taught me that high-level instruction does not require a cold environment. After working with many musicians, I have learned that providing HONEST feedback helps players overcome the fear of playing in front of others. It is genuinely enjoyable to watch someone stop dreading their instrument and start finding their own unique voice through music theory and songwriting.

Confidence grows when you realize that your gear and your technique are finally working in perfect harmony. Transitioning from the stage of a church band to the grit of a rock or blues club requires a shift in how you hear your own playing.

My BFA training allows me to guide you through complex scales and modes while keeping the process accessible. We build a bridge between your existing ear training skills and the new chord transitions you need for indie music.

These sessions remain flexible because sometimes the best musical discoveries happen when we abandon the plan to follow a new idea. You will find that these 6.0 focused sessions change your relationship with the fretboard entirely. Everything feels like a natural extension of your hands by the time we finish.
