About Rita
Teaching started for me because I wanted to bridge the gap between messy bedroom practice and the rigors of my Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Music Performance from Berklee College of Music. Clarity is my priority. My 13 years of experience helped me develop a teaching method that blends the freedom of a self-taught player with the precision of formal theory training.
Whether you are prepping for grade exams or trying to master blues progressions and scales, I have spent 13 years refining how to communicate these technical concepts effectively. Do you prefer a methodical approach or do you want to jump straight into improvisation and soloing?
Understanding how to balance raw curiosity with academic structure is the core of my identity as an instructor. I work with students who value both the discipline of acoustic technique and the creative spark found in songwriting and power chords. You receive a highly visual experience through my 2-camera setup that highlights my hands so you see exactly what I am doing at all times. I enjoy taking your specific song requests and turning them into simplified arrangements that match your current skill level perfectly.
Strumming patterns become much easier when you can clearly see the physical mechanics on screen. My background in performing means I keep things practical and grounded while we work through your repertoire together.
10 of my favorite teaching techniques involve deconstructing complex solos into manageable chunks that make sense for your ears. Focusing on the music you actually like is the quickest way to stay motivated. We can adjust the pace of our 7 minute rhythm drills to ensure you feel confident before we move to the next section. Finding the right balance between theory and application happens naturally during our time together.
