About Kendra
Standing on a stage in the American South, I often think about the first time I held a guitar. Teaching is a natural extension of my 6 years spent performing at bluegrass festivals. I have supported 491 students in their musical growth.
My BA Folk Music from Berea College provides the bedrock for my technical knowledge. My laid-back approach works well for teens and hobbyists who want to understand CHORD TRANSITIONS. I have 7 years of experience helping others navigate the fretboard.
We explore blues progressions and fingerpicking with a relaxed mindset. It is interesting to see how people connect with the instrument over time.

Sitting down with a guitar, we start by checking the tuning and instrument maintenance. A typical session involves moving through chord transitions while listening for clarity in each note.
We might spend time reading tabs or sheet music to build literacy. My BA Folk Music degree informs how I approach songwriting and technique. We keep the pace steady as we work on blues progressions.
7 years of experience allow me to identify where a student needs extra help with fingerpicking. It is a rewarding process.
