About Ruth
First sessions involve tuning up and finding your rhythm, which is actually quite fun. We look at fingerpicking and acoustic technique, keeping the focus on your personal goals.
A practice module with every lesson to keep momentum is provided to ensure you never feel lost between meetings. Since I have 13 years of experience, I can explain complex lead guitar concepts quite simply. My UBC background means I know exactly how to structure a lesson for self-taught players wanting structure. You will walk away feeling like you have a clear plan for your next practice session.

Absolute beginners make up a huge portion of my guitar practice. 122 students have learned to play with me over the years. I hold a degree from UBC which informs how I teach music theory and scales.
Working professionals and teens often tell me they struggle with barre chords or rhythm guitar. My neurodivergent-affirming approach helps you build technique at your own pace. I want to see you reach your musical destination with clarity and confidence.
