About Isla
My passion for guitar began at an early age, drawn by the instrument’s ability to convey emotion and tell stories. I earned a B.Mus in Contemporary Guitar Performance and Music Composition, which provided rigorous training in both performance and pedagogical methods. Over 11 years, I have guided students of diverse ages and skill levels, helping them develop technical proficiency, artistic interpretation, and confidence in performance.
I teach with patience, empathy, and attention to individual learning styles, ensuring that each student receives instruction that suits their pace, goals, and musical preferences. Lessons combine technique development, repertoire exploration, improvisation, and performance practice, helping learners balance skill acquisition with expressive creativity. I emphasize fostering independence, self-confidence, and a personal connection to music, enabling each student to explore and shape their musical identity.
Outside teaching, I continue performing, composing, and exploring contemporary guitar techniques to bring fresh perspectives into lessons. Guitar instruction is deeply fulfilling because I witness students transform from tentative beginners into confident musicians, developing technical mastery, expressive capability, and an enduring love for music.

Intermediate learners expand into scales, fingerstyle techniques, barre chords, improvisation, and stylistic exploration. Advanced learners refine complex repertoire, improvisational fluency, musical phrasing, performance preparation, and composition. Each session blends structured exercises, guided feedback, and reflective practice, ensuring steady growth and a strong foundation in both technical skill and musical artistry.
