About Zoe
I discovered my passion for guitar at an early age and pursued a B.Mus in Classical Guitar followed by an M.Mus in Contemporary Guitar Studies. Over 9 years, I have worked with students of all skill levels, from first-time learners to advanced players preparing for performances or examinations. My teaching philosophy combines structured technical training, creative exploration, and encouragement to foster both skill and confidence.
I integrate repertoire study, technical exercises, improvisation, and performance coaching into each lesson. I emphasize tone, phrasing, stylistic interpretation, and personal expression while cultivating independence, musical intuition, and stage presence.
Beyond teaching, I perform regularly, explore diverse musical genres, and collaborate with other musicians to bring fresh, real-world experiences into lessons. Watching students progress from hesitant beginners to confident, expressive performers is deeply fulfilling. My mission is to nurture technically competent, expressive, and confident guitarists who can explore music creatively and authentically.

Guitar lessons are most effective when students develop technical skill alongside expressive musicality. I focus on finger positioning, chord progressions, scales, picking techniques, strumming patterns, improvisation, tone shaping, phrasing, stylistic interpretation, and performance skills. Lessons blend hands-on practice, creative exercises, and repertoire study in an encouraging and supportive environment that allows students to explore and grow musically.
Beginners start with foundational skills, including proper posture, chord formation, basic melodies, and simple strumming patterns to develop confidence. Intermediate learners expand their repertoire, focus on fingerstyle, improvisation, solo phrasing, chord embellishments, and expressive techniques, refining both technical accuracy and musical interpretation. Advanced students work on complex compositions, improvisation, stylistic versatility, ensemble performance, and stage readiness. Lessons integrate reflective practice, constructive feedback, and personalized exercises to ensure continuous improvement.
Guitar study strengthens creativity, discipline, and confidence, providing students with tools to express themselves musically in performance, composition, and collaborative settings. Many students explore composition, ensemble work, and improvisation, developing versatile musicianship. My goal is to help learners combine technical precision, artistic expression, and personal voice while enjoying the process of making music.
