About Lexi

With over 10 years of teaching experience, I’ve had the pleasure of helping guitarists of all ages and skill levels—from complete beginners to advanced players—discover their voice on the instrument.

I hold a degree in Guitar Performance from Berklee College of Music and have spent many years performing and touring professionally. I am the lead guitarist for the award-winning world music group Zili Misik, and I’ve also performed with indie rock bands, as a solo artist, and in a variety of other musical settings. My solo work often incorporates effects pedals, experimental sounds, and visual elements, reflecting my love of exploring the creative possibilities of music.

My playing and teaching draw from a wide range of styles, including acoustic fingerpicking, electric lead guitar and improvisation, West African highlife, jazz, folk, and rock.

A Creative Approach to Learning Guitar

I believe learning guitar should be about more than simply memorizing songs. My goal is to help students develop the skills, confidence, and creativity to eventually make music of their own.

Along with learning technique and repertoire, students can explore songwriting, improvisation, music theory, reading music, scales, chord inversions, recording, music videos, and even album artwork. I love helping students take an idea from their imagination and turn it into something they can actually hear, play, and share.

I have taught students ranging from ages 4 to 60, and I tailor lessons to each person's interests and goals. Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time, want to become a stronger lead player, are interested in songwriting and recording, or want to dive deeper into music theory and harmony, I’ll help you build a solid foundation while keeping the learning process fun and personal.

And of course, if you have favorite songs you want to learn, I'm always happy to work those into lessons, too!
