About Melissa

I structure my sessions to ensure you understand music theory while we work on electric technique or blues progressions. Since I cater to performance-focused students, we spend significant time on physical comfort and acoustic precision. My background in guitar performance ensures that you learn the right way to hold the neck and move your fingers. I use my professional training to break down difficult movements into small, manageable pieces.
You will find that these sessions are centered on the joy of making music, not just reading charts. I look forward to getting your hands moving on the fretboard.

Holding a degree in Flamenco Guitar from Mexico and another from Berklee College of Music, I understand the mechanics of sound. My hands still remember the first time I felt the vibration of a string against wood. I work with absolute beginners, teens, and kids who want to understand the architecture of music.
I bring 6 years of experience to every session. My approach is rhythmic and motivating. I simplify complex theory and fingerpicking so you can actually play. My promise is that we will keep the energy high while we build your technique.
