About Skye
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music with a concentration in guitar performance and have taught students privately for over six years. My experience spans teaching beginners their first chords to helping advanced students develop technical mastery and original compositions. In addition to private instruction, I’ve played in multiple bands, recorded music, and performed in live venues—giving me practical insight I bring into each lesson. My teaching style is structured yet highly adaptable. I focus on practical skills that build real-world musicianship while also supporting creative exploration. I aim to make learning feel engaging, not overwhelming. I understand that each student has a unique way of learning, so I tailor every session to fit the student’s pace, style, and musical interests. With a focus on encouragement and clear direction, I help students develop confidence and consistency. Over the years, I’ve seen students go from hesitant beginners to passionate guitarists who enjoy playing daily and even writing their own music. I believe that music education should be inspiring and grounded in what makes each student excited to play. Each guitar lesson is crafted to meet you where you are—whether you're just starting or looking to improve your current skill set. We begin with essential concepts like tuning, basic chords, simple strumming, and rhythm exercises. Lessons are kept practical, focusing on playing songs early on to keep motivation high while reinforcing key foundational techniques. Early sessions also include ear training and fretboard familiarity, building confidence and musical intuition from the start.
As your skills grow, we shift toward more complex elements such as barre chords, fingerpicking patterns, scales, and rhythm variations. You'll learn how to understand song structure, improvise within a key, and develop your own playing style. Lessons include music theory fundamentals presented in a clear and relatable way. Whether you’re into pop, rock, blues, or acoustic genres, each session is designed to strengthen your technique through music you actually enjoy playing.
For advanced players, the lessons focus on soloing, improvisation, songwriting, and genre-specific stylings like jazz voicings or blues phrasing. We'll work on refining tone, speed, and articulation while also developing expressive performance skills. Assignments are personalized, and you’ll receive weekly feedback to help you break through challenges.
