About Laura
I rarely follow a generic textbook for any student. My BFA from Concordia University provides the pedagogical framework I use to teach hobbyists, grade exam candidates, and working professionals alike. During my 7 years of experience, I have learned that playing the guitar requires a balance of discipline and creativity.
We look at reading tabs and refining your physical technique to ensure you play without strain. Whether you want to master a specific riff or write your own songs, we focus on the mechanics of your instrument. I keep our sessions grounded in the music you want to play while ensuring you build a solid foundation of skills. There is a sense of satisfaction in seeing you move from initial frustration to playing with real confidence.

My teaching career is built on the foundation of 7 years spent honing my craft alongside 153 students. I hold a BFA Music Performance and TESOL degree from Concordia University which helps me structure complex technical ideas into simple steps. My personal narrative involves working with everyone from Grade 3 newcomers to adults finding their place in Canada through the shared language of music. I bring skills in improvisation, soloing, electric technique, and fingerpicking to every single meeting.
My guitar instruction balances theory with the physical demands of playing lead guitar or mastering chord transitions. It feels natural to guide you through strumming patterns, songwriting, and the essentials of tuning and maintenance.
