About Erik
Erik is a wearer of many hats in the local music world. Not only does he teach guitar to private clients, he is also an audio engineer, session musician, producer and performer. In 2023, Erik earned his Bachelor of Science in Audio Engineering Technology from Lawrence Technological University, and has been working full-time as a live sound engineer at many different venues and music festivals across Wayne County. He also loves to engineer for artists at his recording studio in Detroit and play guitar and saxophone in several bands. Outside the realm of music, Erik enjoys playing tennis, watching NBA basketball, and traveling the world.

Erik's approach to teaching lessons revolves around asking his students' questions and leading them to new conclusions. For example, he might ask a student to play one of their favorite songs, and ask them why they like it. After a dialogue is established and the student has been engaged in a passionate discussion about their favorite music, Erik can break down the "how" and "why" of the song structure, chords, and other theoretical concepts, usually met with a fresh curiosity. This approach is best suited for students who have been playing guitar for a few years and are looking to deepen their understanding of how the instrument works, but he can apply this method to beginners as well.
