About Taylor
I am a musician of 10 years playing guitar and electric bass guitar. I have played and gigged in jazz, blues, reggae, RnB, Funk, Chirstian Rock/Gospel, and hip-hop groups.
I have been giving lessons for five years in individual instruction as well as group instruction. I founded the first Guitar Not Guns Chapter where I taught bi-weekly guitar lessons to at-risk youth in Sacramento. I have a passion for teaching guitar and music because I know that music enriches the brain through creativity, improvisation, and structure.

Music is all about the ear, so ear training comes first before any other aspect of music. I simultaneously develop a strong understanding of music theory through reading music, understanding harmony, scales and developing dexterity and proper technique of playing guitar. Improvisation as well as learning songs that interest the student tie in all concepts covered in the lesson for the student to use their skills as applied knowledge. Weekly lessons are imperative for sustained development and success as well as a daily practice regimen for the student to follow. True growth comes from months (not weeks) of sustained learning.
I have adopted a very personalized teaching strategy that are tailored to my student's needs. I always make sure to create a balance between pushing the student's boundaries though practicing musical foundations while keeping inspiration through teaching specific interests of the student such as popular songs and improvisation.
