About Serena
I’m a rising junior at Gunn High School who has always really enjoyed math and helping others understand and enjoy it as well. I skipped a grade in math as a 5th grader, which helped me be able to continue to enjoy the rigor that math can have. Although corny, I like to help others understand and work through math problems -- it always makes me smile when I see I've helped someone have a light-bulb moment with math.

I have helped tutor my friends for years and have naturally become skilled at explaining concepts in a way that is easily understood. Lesson plans may be altered to the individual, but will generally consist of the following structure:
We will begin with a warm-up or review, followed by the introduction and teaching of new concepts, and a working through of practice problems involving the learnt concepts.
These lessons are for elementary schoolers (pre-algebra), all the way to Algebra II. Again, I focus on helping my clients learn the content in a way that is engaging, enjoyable, and helpful for them.
