About Nicole
Since 2000, tutoring and teaching students with special needs have been my most challenging and rewarding experiences. Building students' motivation has been my "engine" for finding youth-centered educational strategies because their achievements have been my success. Rather than concentrating on my students’ letter grades, certificates, and completion, I focus on their learning in process, growth, and purpose. I prefer placing struggling students in a circle, offering them a sense of success, letting them learn from each other, and keeping them from feeling "isolated." Coming from a multicultural background, I tend to explore different teaching methods that are essential for students who are socio-culturally, economically, and linguistically deprived of success in our society. I provide real-world experiences to my students by promoting question-driven learning and connecting it to the real world. I encourage my students’ active participation by asking questions and collaborating with them.

By endorsing question-driven learning and connecting it to the real world, I offer my students real-life experiences. I encourage my students’ active participation by asking questions and collaborating with them.
My goal is to educate young minds about the issues surrounding diversity and equity at academic institutions and in our communities by channeling their thought processes through queries instead of telling them "what to think." By maintaining a caring, inclusive environment and including multicultural education with aspects of equity and diversity in my classroom, my students effectively interact with other people who are ‘different’ from themselves and develop their understanding. By improving my students’ communication, and critical thinking skills and connecting their learning to the real world, I want my classroom to be a center of social transformation, where youth-centered pedagogies will help students from different backgrounds excel and bring inspiring changes to their communities.
