About Hilary
While teaching children with developmental disabilities for 21 years, I learned to instruct children in a phonics-based reading program, the Wilson Reading System. As a tutor, I have taught the program to children with normal intelligence from kindergarten to 6th grade, and to adults. Whether diagnosed with dyslexia or not, most children progressed to reading on grade level with my instruction. I have taught the Wilson program for almost fifteen years, and I'm always amazed at how successful it is!

I follow the methods and lessons in the Wilson program, supplementing it with outside reading, reading comprehension, and writing instruction. I reward students after each lesson with the dollar-store prize of their choice if they have worked hard, which is very motivating!
