About Laureen
Hi! I'm Laureen. I use they/them pronouns. I’m an artist, educator, and proud Mission, San Francisco native. I earned my BFA in Digital Media from Cornell University and my Master of Design in Publics from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
In my classroom, art is not just about making things—it’s about making meaning. I design lessons where students explore identity, memory, and community through mixed media, performance, and installation. We draw, build, move, reflect, and share. Every project invites students to connect their lived experiences to their creative process.
Teaching young people is at the heart of my work. I believe art and design can support healing, spark imagination, and build confidence. My lessons are trauma-informed and grounded in care. We create brave spaces where students feel seen, heard, and valued.
Born and raised in the Mission, I understand how intergenerational trauma, displacement, gentrification, and incarceration shape our communities. In response, I develop projects that center storytelling, cultural pride, and collective resilience. Students learn that their histories matter and their voices carry power.
