English

A Master's Degree in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and almost 20 years of teaching experience set me apart from most tutors for your elementary or middle school student in reading and writing. In addition, as a home educator for the past nine years, I have a considerable amount of flexibility in my schedule to accommodate your scheduling needs. I utilize a multidisciplinary approach to encourage attentiveness, interest, self-esteem, and independence in students. I employ diagnostic assessments, scoring rubrics and self-assessment for students in order to achieve optimum results. I provide students sufficient scaffolding in order to best support students as they approach proficiency. A lesson plan includes the learning objective, an introduction to the concept or skill, modeling with "thinking aloud," review and guided practice for students.
