About Lindsay

I’m a dedicated educator and biomedical researcher who specializes in making complex topics clear and manageable. Over the last several years I’ve taught and mentored students from high school to university—supporting coursework, exam prep, lab skills, and academic writing. My style is structured but supportive: we start with a quick diagnostic, set specific goals, and use active practice to build skill and confidence. I provide clean notes and action items after each session so you always know what’s next. Professionalism matters to me. You can expect on-time sessions, prompt communication, and honest feedback delivered with empathy. Families and students often tell me they appreciate my reliability, my calm coaching during stressful weeks, and my ability to translate “hard science” into strategies that stick. Whether you’re aiming to raise a grade, master a foundation, or stretch into advanced topics, I’ll meet you where you are and help you get where you want to go.

My teaching approach is built on clarity, confidence, and curiosity. I focus on helping students truly understand the why behind concepts: whether that’s the chemical mechanism behind a reaction, the logic of a biological pathway, or the structure of a complex passage on a standardized test. Rather than memorization, I emphasize conceptual mastery and real-world application, ensuring students can connect classroom learning to tangible examples from research, medicine, and daily life.

I use Socratic questioning, step-by-step problem solving, and visual aids (such as molecular diagrams or flowcharts) to strengthen understanding. Every lesson is adapted to the student’s learning style—whether they learn best through structured notes, guided practice, or collaborative discussion.

Typical Lesson Plan

Warm-Up (5–10 min): Quick review of the previous session and short diagnostic questions to identify areas needing reinforcement.

Concept Breakdown (20–30 min): Interactive explanation of the day’s topic, using analogies, diagrams, and examples relevant to the student’s level (e.g., molecular biology for AP Bio vs. biochemistry for college pre-med).

Guided Practice (20–30 min): Step-by-step walkthrough of problems or exam-style questions with an emphasis on reasoning and critical thinking.

Independent Practice + Strategy (10–15 min): Students attempt problems on their own, followed by discussion of test-taking strategies, efficient study methods, and personalized feedback.

Recap and Assignments (5 min): Summarize key takeaways and set goals or practice tasks before the next lesson.

What Sets Me Apart

Award-Winning Teaching Experience: Two-time recipient of Harvard’s Certificate of Excellence in Teaching in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology.

Research-Backed Methods: I bring insights from my work at Harvard Medical School and Nemours Children’s Hospital to make complex topics relevant and exciting.

Mentorship Mindset: Beyond grades, I aim to cultivate confidence, independence, and a love for science. My students learn how to think, not just what to think.

Personalized Learning: I tailor lessons based on each student’s goals—whether that’s improving exam scores, preparing for college applications, or mastering core scientific principles.
