I have been playing guitar for 20 years. I played in numerous bands as a youth.
I spent ten years as a copywriter in the advertising industry.
I also wrote four English novels, one of which was adapted into a TV series on kykNET.
I am proficient in both electric and acoustic guitar.

First of all, my lessons are two hours long. In my experience, sixty minutes are simply not enough for an effective lesson. (I charge R400 for a two-hour lesson.)
I structure my lessons based on 1) the student's level of proficiency and 2) the student's desired style of guitar playing.
At a beginner level, I begin with basic open chords and beginner music theory. Because of the nature of modern rock/blues, I focus on individual note-picking right from the start, providing the student with exercises to develop their picking proficiency.
After this, I focus on the various components and techniques employed in modern rock, teaching specific songs that utilise these techniques.
At the most advanced level, I teach soloing techniques, skills and scales.

My lessons are two hours (120 minutes) in length.
The R400 rate covers a full two-hour lesson.
I have two Marshall amps, so the student is not required to bring an amp to the lesson - in the case of electric guitar instruction.
I teach both electric and acoustic rock guitar.
