About Ian

I have experience as a private teacher both teaching English to infants and adults in San Francisco (California). I also have experience as a music teacher both in music theory and guitar. On the other hand, I have worked as a boxing monitor in a California sports center and also as a tutor for boys with few resources who, due to family situations, had chosen wrong paths in life and together with the work of volunteers and tutors we looked at help them get out of their studies or find a job so they can have a better life. I believe that teaching is a vocation and being able to teach new concepts makes me happy and grow professionally. I am a boy with high motivation and curiosity to continue learning and to be able to apply everything I have studied to my future students. I wanted to emphasize that since I arrived in Barcelona last February 2020 I have obtained my TEFL degree and on the other hand I am a Spanish student within the B2 group at the Barcelona School.

About the lesson

I am a Native American with greater preparation to teach levels B2, C1, C2 both to teenagers and adults. I could of course teach more basic levels but I think my skills would be more useful for people who already have a base of English and want to improve the level of both spoken and written language. Both to be able to pass the official Cambridge tests and to prepare for the IELTS that today is the most important and the most requested at an official level both in the work environment and also by subject and visas from different countries. I am a very patient person who believes that a language has to be learned in a dynamic way but with clear effort. I do not believe in the advertisements that lately are on television where being able to speak a language to perfection in 3 weeks is sold because in the end all these miraculous methods fail and the true knowledge has to be consolidated, it is necessary to repeat them and prepare exercises where the students realize their strengths and weaknesses and can thus achieve their true objectives as quickly as possible. But taking into account that each person is different and that the rhythms in the learning process are different for everyone.
