About Ruby

I love to teach and grew up with two teachers as parents so have spent the majority of my life in and out of classrooms. I have a passion for language and the law and am currently studying to be a college professor while tutoring on the side. I focus on making my students feel confident and prepared on the day to quiet the noise and nerves. When a student knows they have covered everything they need to in the lead up to an exam it allows them to focus on what they want to say, which I believe is supposed to be the point of an exam. My lessons will be concise, direct and I will ensure that the student does not enter their exam feeling like there are gaps in their knowledge. My job is providing the information, it is your job to interpret it and relay it to your examiner, and we will work on these skills together.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is tailored to the student. I can offer long-term lessons and can also do more intense exam prep sessions. I offer extensive notes for all the subjects I teach and prefer to focus on exam-focused techniques to make the student feel comfortable, capable and prepared on exam day. My sessions last 1-2 hours depending on the student's preference. For college level Law Tutoring I have experience tutoring Criminal, Civil and Philosophies of Law but can teach a variety of subjects, just reach out to advise what you are looking for. At college level I will initially focus on your itinerary and try to gain an understanding of your lecturer's approach to the subject to understand their expectations of you. I will then provide you with extensive notes for your subject. Our lessons will focus on specific areas of the law, dependent on your exam format, and will be discussion based with me teaching you the fundamentals and figuring out your own opinions and ideas and structuring them so that you have many ideas to pull from in an exam setting, backed up by case law and summaries of articles I have provided to you. For Leaving Cert and A Level Subjects again my approach is tailored to the student's needs but I tend to focus on exam techniques and prepping essays with students so they have a variety of essay options in their back pocket when it comes to exam day. The way I prep essays with my students gives them the tools and understanding to adapt their prepared answers to the questions they may be presented with on the day. I also have extensive experience prepping students for their oral examinations, these sessions take an hour and focus on vocabulary and on making the student feel at ease speaking in Irish, to relax them and impress their examiner.
