Dear students, Welcome to the fall 2025 Semester of Calculus I (MAT 201). I’m very excited to have you this semester. We will work together to enhance better learning and understanding of mathematics. The Essential College Information & Resources document at the end of your syllabus contains important college information as well as a comprehensive list of resources we offer here at CCA to help support you. This semester, besides our textbook, we will use MyOpenMath for Exercises, Discussions, and Quizzes. Please turn in all the work on time.

Student-Centered Instructional Plan Template (Lesson Sequence) LESSON: Chapter 2 Equations and Inequalities 2.3 Solving Quadratic Equations 2.4 Applications of Quadratic Equations Date: 9/10/2024 Learning Target: Students will verbally and in writing explore various strategies for solving quadratic equations using partner collaboration and class notes as support. Furthermore, students will solve application problems involving quadratic equations LOOK FOR 5 Minutes | DO NOW / CONNECTION SAT PROBLEM Example-1: Partner discussion 7 min Graciela is trying to solve the quadratic equation x2+2.5x−1.5=0. “I think I need to use the Quadratic Formula because of the decimals,” she tells Walter. Walter replies, “I’m sure there’s another way! Can’t we rewrite this equation so there aren’t any decimals?” What is Walter talking about? Rewrite the equation so that it has no decimals. Rewrite your equation again, so that you can solve it without using the Quadratic Formula. Then solve your equation. Be sure to check your solution(s) with your graphing calculator using Graciela’s original equation. . For each strategy, provide an example and explain which types of equations work best with that strategy.
