About Tea
I have been a student of voice and piano for well over 15 years, being taught by a large number of private instructors, including top industry instructors such as the former voice coach of Michael Jackson, Dorian Holley (who also was a voice coach on American Idol). I first began teaching voice and piano in 2014 at two different music schools while I completed my two undergraduate degrees. I received my Bachelor's Degrees in Drama and Education Sciences from UC Irvine in 2015 and moved to Los Angeles in 2017 where I resumed teaching students in-home, at music academies, and virtually. I have taught both voice and piano in a number of settings, my most recent employer being Guitar Center for over four and a half years where I taught students of all ages and abilities both instruments.

I take a customized approach with each student based on their proficiency, age, and goals. I am familiar with working with first-time learners in voice, piano, and music theory, as well as more intermediate and advanced students. I build rapport with my students and regularly check in with them on their goals and progress.
My voice lessons focus on proper technique, learning to sing in the "mix" placement, breath technique, and annunciation. Typically we work on vocal scales for half of lessons, and on song selections for the second half.
My piano lessons focus on foundational skills surrounding learning the Circle of Fifths (all major and minor scales and their relatives, reading key signatures), as well as learning major, minor, and diminished chords. I teach my students sight reading, and music proficiency basics as we make our way through a songbook appropriate for my student's level. For more intermediate and advanced students, I work on improving finger agility on the piano and playing with a metronome without pauses.
