I have worked one on one with students, first with the Dyslexia Tutoring Program where I learned the Orton Gillingham approach. Right before covid struck hard, I was with Reading Partners; the curriculum was planned based on the child's assessment score.
If for any reason I did not feel a student was ready to move on, I was at liberty to hold them at a certain level until they were comfortable moving forward.
In the event a student was having a bad day, the curriculum was not always followed as planned. Sometimes we have to take a detour to get to the final destination...I just try to have some fun, one word at a time!!!
