About Jean
Graduating with a Bachelor of Music from Boston Conservatory at Berklee did not teach me as much as the actual act of teaching did. Most people think piano is purely about finger dexterity, but I find it is primarily about how the mind organizes information. Kids and adults find my approach helpful because I focus on the structure of music rather than just rote memorization.
My work as a pianist and vocalist in San Francisco influences how I teach accompaniment skills and sight transposition to students of all ages. 13 years in this field ensures I can spot your specific learning hurdles quickly. You will find that I provide a calm, precise structure that supports both neurotypical and neurodivergent learners as we explore dynamics and expression.

Diagnostic playing assessment happens before we set a learning plan. We start here. This initial meeting allows me to observe your current level of sight reading and ear training while you play.
From there, we move into specific work on ABRSM or Trinity grade exam prep, scales, or arpeggios. I adapt the session structure to fit your focus levels, ensuring we do not overtax your brain during dense theory work.
My Bachelor of Music training means I approach every technical hurdle with a focus on efficiency. We build your confidence through small, consistent wins. You will leave feeling prepared for your next performance.
