About Kathryn
You arrive and we start by releasing tension in the jaw and neck. We move into breathing control and warm-up exercises that wake up your entire instrument.
I draw on my degree to explain belting technique and tone and resonance in plain terms. We look at microphone technique and stage fear management as we prepare you for your next performance. I build a personalized song list around each student's range to ensure you feel comfortable.
Whether you are working on vibrato control or balancing head and chest voice, we take it step by step. My approach is to keep you singing songs that actually fit your current ability. I am here to make sure you enjoy the process of finding your range. It is my priority to keep our time together supportive and clear.

I teach because song accelerates language and language deepens the song. Truthfully, I started this program because I found that standard exercises ignored the human side of performance.
My Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from UBC provides the technical bedrock for our work. I combine 13 years of teaching with my experience as a Middle-Eastern newcomer to create a unique space. I focus on making your voice feel steady and grounded. We will keep things simple and honest throughout our time together.
