About Rebecca
I love the process of learning. I am continually acquiring and practicing new skill sets. My life goal is to never stop learning! I approach every tutoring session with passion, discernment, and hope, because I value both the process and the person. In recent years, I have tutored students in writing, grammar, and public speaking, worked as an intervention aide in an elementary class, focusing on literacy skills, and currently serve as an adjunct at a local university, where I teach Executive Functioning Skills to students with disabilities. I also consult with individuals and families on Emotional Health. I am a professional writer, certified teacher, certified Emotional Health Consultant, and homeschool mom of our four graduated kids. They all love to write and read almost as much as I do.

Learning requires both new information and practice. We also learn best when we feel safe and encouraged. There is real science to that!
I structure lessons based on this principle.
A typical lesson plan will include:
1) a way to connect with current knowledge
2) a presentation of new or pertinent content
3) a chance to practice or manipulate new content
4) a reflection on new skills mastered and those that need more practice
I have extensive experience with how the brain works, capitalizing on neuroplasticity to build new pathways of understanding and mastery. I work with students of all ages, and I have specific experience teaching students with disabilities. I am a trained ACT tutor.
I love helping students build literacy skills, find their voice as writers and incorporate strong grammar skills.
