About Carroll
Graduating from Juilliard provided the formal foundation for my current practice as a violinist with the Seattle Symphony. Standing in my Chicago studio, I often hear the resonant friction of horsehair against strings that defines a clean start. My 7 years of work emphasize scales and arpeggios, vibrato, and shifting positions to ensure technical ease.
I also guide students through spiccato and staccato bowing, bowing technique, ear training, and left hand agility. Tone production and music theory form the core of my methodical approach. Preparing for ABRSM or Trinity grade exams remains a frequent request for those pursuing high standards. Do you prioritize this same level of rigor in your own musical development?

Your first lesson begins with a focused assessment of posture and sound. We identify immediate goals.
My background as a Juilliard graduate informs every correction I provide. You will practice specific left hand agility exercises.
We examine your current vibrato. Music theory connects to your repertoire.
Grade exam prep is available if requested. Technical precision is the objective here. I enjoy helping adult hobbyists find joy in their practice sessions.
