SQL query is a difficult topic for many students in undergraduate database courses. Our method adopts the divide-and-conquer paradigm, a familiar problem-solving skill to computer science students. It analyzes a given query requirement and looks for clues to decompose the requirement into actionable steps. Templates are also used to construct commonly used complex query types. This method has shown that it is effective in helping students learn SQL.
