About Amber
I am Head of Department of Religious Education in an outstanding London School, an examiner for AQA and personal tutor of the AQA GCSE curriculum with a specialty in Islam and Christianity. I have a passion for teaching and work in a school where cutting-edge methods of teaching are employed. My lessons are enjoyable and rigorous. Lessons involve a strong focus on re-cap, reading, extended writing, discussion and mastery. All lessons will involve mastery tasks of key concepts as well as mastery tasks of various aspects of the success criteria e.g. one lesson might focus purely on how to write a strong conclusion, developed points or how to interpret and link quotes to the point. I place a strong value on literacy and a key aspect of my degree was ‘Academic Writing’ so I am in a position to deliver content, skills as well as how to write successfully. As a middle leader with 8 years’ experience, students benefit from well thought out and creative lesson plans with clear learning objectives, assessment, constructive feedback and appropriate challenge.
I have a positive and upbeat teaching style and use humour and a variety of activities to make lessons enjoyable and stimulating. I recognise that every learner is different and employ high levels of differentiation to suit their unique learning needs. As well as praising students for their hard work I encourage them to recognise their own progress and become independent learners.
I am very passionate about teaching Religious Studies to students of all or no religious persuasion. Students tell me that I am a fun and patient teacher. My hobbies include guitar and up-cycling and my creativity extends to the way I teach. I feel lucky to have chosen the right vocation I take my role very seriously and do my up most to ensure that students not only achieve but also enjoy the learning process.
I possess a clear vision of maximising the potential of all learners regardless of their starting point. I hope that my natural enthusiasm for teaching, passion in my subject and sense of humour increases engagement and motivation. I have formed positive rapport with students as well as with parents and carers many of whom I have collaborated with to maximise the achievement of learners.
