About Hattie
I have experience teaching a range of ages from 8-adult, combining private teaching, performance coaching and work in schools. I have taken students through ABRSM grades with 100% pass rate, but am happy to work casually and more 'for fun', should that be the experience you are after!
I am an experienced classical performer, but also enjoy teaching a more contemporary and popular style of cello and piano. I have arranged pieces by the Beatles, Joni Mitchell and have worked as a session musician for artists such as Tom Rosenthal.

I believe in combining my wealth of experience within the specialist music education system with my dedication to helping people realise their musical goals, however big or small. I am passionate about music's capability to heal and focus, and incorporate elements of the Alexander Technique and other more alternative and holistic methods to ensure an integrative and student-focussed approach. I am also pretty laid back and happy to follow your lead with what you’d like to learn!
Having myself experienced the more negative elements of the competitive musical world, my teaching focusses on empowering students to take risks, make mistakes and show up, no matter how they feel or how 'well' their playing goes.
When teaching young beginners, I love to incorporate elements of musical play and am dedicated to creating accessible and fun lessons and resources.
