BSc Medical Science (Hons)

Access to HE (Science) Diploma- Distinction.

A-levels- Biology, Psychology and Chemistry.

GCSEs- Specifically took triple science.

EMPLOYMENT:

Medical Laboratory Assistant-
Process specimen samples sent to the Blood sciences department by the hospital or GP surgeries.

Theatre Support Assistant-
The role surrounds patient care before, during and after operations are undertaken.

Barnardos the Children’s Charity-
The role primarily entailed stock processing and volunteer management, overseeing volunteers from a variety of backgrounds, ethnic groups, abilities, ages, and experiences. Working within a diverse environment where people with various challenges are a part of the team, has taught me valuable lessons and skills over the years. As well as tailoring their role at the store according to their needs, and providing them with a healthy and productive working environment, I often found that a listening ear goes a long way.

NHS- Covid-19 Vaccinator-
Administer the vaccine via the intramuscular route (either client's upper arm - deltoid muscle or anterior lateral aspect of the thigh if indicated) in accordance with training and local and national protocol, procedures, and standards.

Covid-19 Processing Operative-
My role involved assisting patients with their asymptomatic Covid-19 tests. This ranged from booking patients in for a test to providing guidance and supervision.

VOLUNTARY WORK EXPERIENCE:

Age UK- Telephone Friendship Service for the Elderly
Matched with a senior member of the community to have weekly phone call conversations, eliminating loneliness and potential boredom for the service user, and ensuring that they are safe, secure, and healthy.

British Red Cross- Refugee Support Service
Supporting service users to access essential services and become familiar with their local area through the provision of information, advice, advocacy, and practical help.

British Red Cross- Community Education
Delivering first aid and humanitarian education, resources and self-directed learning such as our first aid apps.

British Red Cross- Event First Aid
The training covered CPR and AEDs, extremity trauma, medical emergencies, suspension, induced pathology, and crush injuries.

Pharmacy- Pharmacy Assistant
Taking in and handing out prescriptions, dispensing prescriptions and using the computer systems to generate stock lists and labels.

NHS- Covid-19 Hospital Marshal

St Johns Ambulance- Advanced Event First Aider

About the lesson

Hi,

Lessons last 60 minutes and are 1-to-1, consisting of guidance with homework and biology-related content the student may be struggling with at school, strengthening their understanding. Having worked with and managed students of various abilities before, I take a friendly and step-by-step approach in my teaching using visual guides and simpler examples to make the topic easier to comprehend. I am always open to questions during the lesson, the more the better!

Lessons are available for secondary school students ages 11-16 (GCSEs), who want to focus on biology specifically as a core subject (across most exam boards).
