About Emily
Hello =-) I'm Emily. I have two cats called Tilly and Toby and two rabbits called Arthur and Agatha. I also now have two little boys who have just started school!
Since I was little, I have always wanted to be a teacher, and I am very proud that I achieved my dream!! I have always been a big kid at heart... minions, smurfs, kids films always make me laugh!
But honestly... I still to this day remember having the most horrible, scary teacher in Year 4. I absolutely hated going to school, made any excuse possible not to go. My poor Mum thought there was something seriously wrong with me, but honestly. I was just terrified of going to school! Terrified she'd pick on me to give answers or make me read out loud in front of someone. I was scared I'd look stupid in front of everyone.
So I wanted to become a teacher so that NO child EVER in my class EVER felt that way. If a child ever cried, or was upset coming to or leaving school I would be mortified!!!!!
So my classroom, my teaching style is... a home from home approach. Friendly but professional, working at their own pace with encouragement and care.
Depending on the subject you are after, all my lessons will follow the same structure;
-Recap on previous learning,
-Introducing a new topic.
-Little activities together or games to embed the new learning.
-Independent learning to see if the child understands the objective.
-Plenary- game or fun quiz to assess the learning from the session.
Phonics lessons are slightly different.
These will involve colourful, speedy, short sharp activities such as flash cards, pictures, spelling, handwriting, reading, writing sentences.

I love watching children learn, thrive and enjoy their lessons.
If children feel safe, at ease and happy, they will learn.
I offer friendly, calm lessons making them as fun, colourful and active as possible.
Yes, I have high expectations of all the children I teach, but I will never make them dislike learning to achieve this.
All children learn differently. I will get to know your child, find out how they learn best, find out their interests and use these to get the most academically out of your child.
However, your child will also have fun. They will smile and hopefully laugh and hopefully want to come back to the next session!
