About Jay

Hi, I’m Jay.
I’ve always been passionate about science and the way the world works—whether it’s the elegance of a math equation, the laws of physics, or the fascinating reactions in chemistry. This passion is what led me to teaching, where I can share my enthusiasm and help others unlock their potential. For over 20 years, I’ve been working with students from different backgrounds, helping them conquer challenging subjects and guiding them to academic success.

What drives me most is the “aha!” moment when a student finally grasps a difficult concept, the sense of accomplishment they feel, and the boost in confidence they gain. My approach is all about making learning approachable and even enjoyable. I firmly believe that with the right guidance, every student has the potential to not only understand but excel in the sciences.
Having taught in both the UK and Canada, I’ve adapted my teaching style to suit different educational systems, including the Ontario provincial curriculum and the International Baccalaureate (IB).

Over the years, I’ve come to see tutoring as not just about improving grades, but about helping students develop a deeper understanding and love for the subject. The ability to think critically, problem-solve, and approach challenges with confidence is just as important to me as achieving academic success.

I’m committed to providing personalized, interactive lessons that engage students in the learning process. I take pride in being flexible, approachable, and understanding—whether online or in-person—so that students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring the subject at their own pace.

Hello! I’m Jay, a passionate and experienced tutor specializing in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and General Science for students in grades 6 to 10.

With over 20 years of tutoring experience—both in the UK, and in Canada since 2015—I bring a deep understanding of these subjects and a proven track record of helping students achieve their academic goals. I’m well-versed in both the Ontario provincial curriculum and the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, ensuring that my students receive tailored, high-quality support no matter their academic path.

My teaching philosophy revolves around making complex concepts clear, engaging, and accessible.

I’m committed to helping students build a strong foundation while developing critical thinking skills that will serve them beyond the classroom. Whether you’re looking to boost your grades, prepare for exams, or simply gain more confidence in these subjects, my lessons are customized to meet each student’s unique needs and learning style.

Since the pandemic, I’ve transitioned to online tutoring, a format that has proven highly effective and preferred by both parents and students. I offer flexible, regular sessions—typically 2 to 4 times per week, with each session lasting around two hours. For a single monthly fee, students can attend as many as four sessions per week, ensuring consistent progress and mastery of the material. My approach encourages active participation, and I expect students to attend at least two sessions per week to make the most of our time together.

My personal teaching style is highly interactive and problem-solving focused. I begin by addressing any questions or doubts, followed by tackling a wide range of past exam questions to reinforce understanding and exam readiness.

I have an extensive collection of past exam papers and, I also create custom questions to challenge students. This approach helps my students become experts in their subjects, fully equipped to handle any question that comes their way.

My goal is not just to help students succeed academically, but to spark a genuine interest in the sciences that will stay with them long after our sessions end.
