My teaching style utilizes Adaptive and Experiential Learning. I believe in moving beyond rote memorization to foster true comprehension and critical application of HR principles. The goal is to develop HR decision-makers, not just test-takers. During our sessions, we will use a combination of case-based scenarios, concept mapping, visual aid, and situational judgment practice. A typical lesson plan would include the following over the course of apx. one and a half hours: review session where we assess your retained knowledge from the previous session; review of pre-work/homework; student identifies immediate pain points/questions. Next, we will dive into the core concept and the introduction of the new module's primary concepts (e.g., Job Analysis, FMLA Compliance, Total Rewards Philosophy), utilizing concept maps and interactive discussion. Once we have a foundation on concepts, we will apply through case-based scenarios working through 1-2 detailed, industry-relevant case studies or situational questions, defending their proposed HR course of action. We will wrap up by summarization and plan our next sessions approach.
