Hello,
I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Laura Dawson, I am 36 years old and live in South Yorkshire with my two dogs Harlow and Barney. I have recently completed my PGCE in Primary Education, prior to this I completed a degree in Early Years. I therefore have four years experience working with children in a Primary school setting from Reception stage through to Year 6. My training is current and fresh and I am equipped with strategies and approaches based on the most current educational research. Your child is in safe hands!
If it's you looking for a tutor, I can offer online, fast and easy to understand support with Maths and English to GCSE level. I know what it's like to need swift support so please be aware that I will always try to get back to you promptly. I also genuinely believe that there's no such thing as a stupid question so please be as honest as you like with what you are stuck on.
Before this I was a Careers Adviser for over 10 years, supporting young people aged 14 - 25 to move into employment, education and training opportunities.
This combination of education and experience has given me a real broad set of skills to support children, particularly with motivation to learn and succeed. I have helped young people making UCAS applications, particularly to the Russell Group universities where your applications need to be individual, concise with impact. If you need help with applications, I can support with this.
I have been described as a "caring and nurturing practitioner who has high expectations for all." I have experience of supporting children to catch up to expected levels of learning but also to exceed to greater depth across all of the curriculum.
I believe that learning should be fun and person-centred so that the child feels in control of their experience.
