About Rafaela
I am Ecuadorian and currently live in Edinburgh. I learned English growing up, and moved away from my country at 18 to pursue my bachelor’s degree and am now pursuing a masters degree here. I am very passionate about learning and teaching and know the importance of having a second language. Throughout my time living abroad, I’ve had the chance to help friends improve their Spanish and believe that this is something I want to pursue to help others immerse in this amazing language.

I have a personal approach to teaching, hoping to create a good relationship with my students for them to feel comfortable speaking in a second language. During conversation, I do like to correct students for the correct use of grammar and note areas where they have made mistakes to practice more in subsequent sessions. Having english as a second language myself, I understand how important it is to be able to speak and understand a language, so my approach is very practical and I prioritize conversational and listening skills that are supported with writing and reading. If interested, I also like sharing books in Spanish of different levels that we can later discuss to enhance both reading and conversation skills. Overall, I understand that learning a languange is an immersion process, so I ensure my approach has that as the main focus!
