About Sarah
When I was applying to art school, I was going through a really hard time. One personal loss came after another and it felt almost impossible to focus, let alone build a portfolio. But I kept going, little by little, and eventually got accepted into LCAD where I earned my BFA. That time in my life taught me not just how to create art, but how to hold onto it when everything else feels uncertain. Now I get to do what I love every day and I’m passionate about helping others find their way too. If you’re working toward a creative goal and need support, I’m here for you.

I’m an LCAD BFA grad offering portfolio help for anyone applying to art school, whether you’re going for undergrad or a teaching program. Locally, I’ve worked one-on-one with students, including a friend I helped by teaching life drawing and going out to sketch on location. She was accepted into a teaching program and is now a high school art teacher. Online, I offer Zoom sessions where we go over your work, build your portfolio, and talk through your ideas and goals. Whether you’re just starting out or need help polishing your pieces, I’m here to support you and help your work stand out.
Here’s what we can go through together:
• An initial interview to talk about your goals, interests, and target programs
• A review of any existing work to see what’s portfolio-ready and what needs development
• Help building a strong, cohesive portfolio that tells your story as an artist
• Skill-building sessions (like life drawing, composition, or visual storytelling)
• Feedback and critique to refine and improve your work
• Guidance on writing artist statements and application essays
• Tips on photographing and formatting your portfolio
• Navigating the application process and deadlines
• Interview preparation if your school requires one
• Ongoing support and encouragement throughout the process

Pricing In-Person Sessions
• $75 per hour plus $25 Uber travel fee per session (within 20 miles)
• I bring all necessary materials unless you ask otherwise
Online Sessions
• $50 per hour
• First 1-hour online session is free to discuss your goals and how I can help
