About Jessica

Hello,

I'm Jessica, an LLB graduate with over 10 years of practical experience in the legal profession. My career has been built in a busy South African law firm, where I've worked extensively in conveyancing, bookkeeping and legal administration while pursuing my LLB.

I understand first-hand the challenges of balancing work, university and personal commitments, which is why I'm passionate about helping students realise that success in law isn't about memorising textbooks—it's about understanding legal principles and learning how to apply them with confidence.

What motivates me most is seeing students grow in confidence. I enjoy breaking down complex legal concepts into simple, practical explanations and creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their skills at their own pace.

My aim is to help students build strong legal foundations that will serve them throughout their LLB and beyond. I also enjoy sharing practical insights from the legal workplace, helping students bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world practice. In addition to law, I offer tutoring in conveyancing and bookkeeping, drawing on years of hands-on industry experience.

About the lesson

Starting your LLB can feel overwhelming, especially if you're studying through UNISA or balancing work, family and your studies. I understand those challenges because I'm living them too.

My goal is simple: to help you understand the law, not just memorise it. I believe that once you understand the legal principles and learn how to apply them, your confidence grows and your marks naturally improve.

With more than 10 years of practical experience in a busy South African law firm, specialising in conveyancing, bookkeeping and legal administration, I bring real-world knowledge into every lesson. I don't just explain what the law says—I help you understand how it works in practice and how to answer questions in a way that earns marks.

Every lesson is personalised to your needs. Whether you're struggling with legal concepts, legal writing, case analysis, assignment preparation or exam technique, we'll work through the material together at your pace. I create a supportive environment where you're encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes and build confidence without feeling intimidated.

A typical lesson begins by identifying the areas you find most challenging. We then break complex topics into manageable sections, work through practical examples, discuss how to approach assignment and exam questions, and finish with a short recap to ensure you leave understanding the topic—not just remembering it.

I teach in English and explain complex legal concepts in clear, straightforward language that is easy to follow.

My tutoring is especially suited to first-year LLB students who want to build strong legal foundations from the beginning, students who are repeating modules and need a different approach and working professionals studying part-time who need practical guidance and effective study strategies. I also offer tutoring in conveyancing and bookkeeping for students who want to strengthen their practical knowledge.

My aim is not only to help you succeed in your current module, but to help you develop the skills, confidence and legal thinking that will support you throughout your studies and future career.
