I like to teach by explaining then asking a series of questions to ensure that you get the concept instead of just memorizing an answer. I prefer students to ask questions so that I can ensure that I help them in the areas that they struggle with the most. At the end of every session I like to ask a few questions just to ensure that some key concepts were understood, if not then I would go over them in the next session.
