About Freyja

As a tutor, I aim to create a supportive and reliable learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenges. I take pride in being prepared, organized, and attentive to each student’s individual needs, so our sessions are both productive and focused.
My strong academic performance in biochemistry, along with my experience in math, organic chemistry, and related subjects, allows me to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively. Because I’m still actively studying, I understand firsthand what students are expected to know and the difficulties they may encounter.
I also value clear communication and professionalism—I make an effort to be punctual, responsive, and adaptable. At the same time, I keep sessions approachable and engaging, because students tend to learn best when they feel at ease.
Overall, my goal is to help students not only improve their grades, but also build confidence in their abilities and develop skills they can carry forward in their studies.

My Approach as a Tutor:
My teaching approach is centered around active learning and collaboration. Rather than simply explaining concepts, I work through problems alongside students, helping them build confidence and develop their own problem-solving skills. I focus on identifying areas where the student is struggling and tailoring each session to address those specific challenges.
I also encourage students to share materials in advance whenever possible. This allows me to prepare targeted explanations, key concepts, and practice problems so our time together is as effective and structured as possible.

Teaching Methodology and Techniques:
I use a combination of guided problem-solving, concept breakdowns, and active recall techniques. This includes:
Working through practice questions step-by-step together
Breaking down complex topics into manageable parts
Asking questions throughout to check understanding
Reinforcing learning through repetition and application
I aim to create an interactive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging with the material.

Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical session is flexible but generally follows this structure:
1. Quick review of previous material or problem areas
2. Focused work on current challenges (practice problems, concepts, assignments)
3. Step-by-step problem solving with explanation and student participation
4. Summary of key takeaways and strategies to remember
5. Optional practice or tips for independent study

What Sets Me Apart:
As a current fourth-year biochemistry student, I have a strong and up-to-date understanding of the material and university-level expectations. Because I’m still actively studying and achieving high grades, I’m very familiar with current curricula, common challenges, and effective study strategies.
I also prioritize making sessions engaging and approachable—I like to incorporate humour and keep things relaxed, because learning is much easier (and more enjoyable) when you’re comfortable and having a bit of fun!

Who My Lessons Are For:
I tutor students of all ages and levels, including:
High school students (math, chemistry, biology)
Undergraduate students (organic chemistry, general chemistry, biochemistry, math)

Whether you’re looking for help with foundational concepts, exam preparation, or challenging course material, I adapt my teaching style to suit your level and goals!
