About Pennie

I focus on developing the musical skills students need to excel in competitive youth orchestras. After earning my Master of Music in Violin Performance at the Manhattan School of Music, I realized that deep technical mastery beats simple coverage of material every time.

I focus on intonation, bowing technique, and rhythm and timing to build a rock-solid foundation for my students. Parents often reach out when confidence drops because they want a routine their child can maintain independently. My approach to left hand agility, tuning by ear, and tone production comes from learning the hard way with my earliest students.

I help pupils master shifting positions and ear training with a 9.0 rating in consistency and pedagogical clarity. Through years of refining these methods, I ensure grade exam prep for ABRSM or Trinity feels like a natural extension of our weekly practice sessions.

A bow touches the string, and we immediately address the tension that often hides in the wrist or shoulder. During these 60 minute periods, we prioritize the minute adjustments in shifting positions that turn a hesitant performance into something truly secure.

It is a slow, methodical process where we dismantle complex passages until the intonation and bowing technique sit perfectly under the fingers. My classroom is a quiet space where we cultivate the patience required to listen to our own mistakes before fixing them. We dedicate time to ear training, ensuring that tuning by ear becomes a reflexive habit rather than a guessing game.

Even the most demanding grade exam prep for ABRSM or Trinity becomes manageable when we break the music down into microscopic technical goals. You will find that my focus remains on the mechanics of sound production and rhythmic stability. By keeping the workload sustainable, I ensure that the musical growth remains consistent long after our time ends for the day.
